It takes a fine range of skills and an uncompromising pursuit of perfection to handle the unique demands of prestige decoration. Robinsons has quickly earned an enviable reputation in this area, working on some of the most illustrious real estate in the country. Our team refurbish a broad range of property from multi-million pound homes and offices in the Grosvenor Estates portfolio to high profile buildings such as The Royal Albert Hall and a variety of embassies. We also take on specialist projects requiring precise standards of decorative work and have recently completed contracts for the new Lowry Centre in Salford and Volvo's state of the art training centre.

A range of Dulux Trade products have been used as part of the impressive £70 million building development programme at the Royal Albert Hall to restore and redecorate all public areas and the auditorium to their former splendour. The work carried out is the first major programme of development undertaken at the Hall since it was constructed in 1871.

The furnishings and colours throughout have been chosen in line with the historic nature of the building and to enhance the Hall’s grandeur. Vibrant reds in the auditorium are complemented by the cleaner, lighter shades of green and cream which match the stenciling from the original structure in the gallery and foyer areas.

Originally started in 1995, the work has been phased over a number of years to avoid disruption to the Hall’s busy scheduling and has been carefully co-ordinated by programme managers Taylor Woodrow, architects Building Design Partnership, interior design consultants Donald Insall Associates. Robinsons completed the redecoration of the upper gallery including the intricate detailing of the architectural coving and column top pediments.

Project managers for the Royal Albert Hall, ATIS REALL Weatherall’s contracted Robinsons to undertake the 2003/2004 cyclical maintenance programme. For durability, Dulux Trade Diamond Matt™ and Quick Drying Eggshell™ were selected for application to the main auditorium, foyers, staircases, bars, restaurants and loggia boxes.

The Lowry: case study

Since its royal opening in 2001, this superb building (housing the world's largest collection of Lowry paintings and drawings), has earned praise from around the world for its futuristic architecture and bold interior colour decor and has become one of Britain's most impressive landmarks, recognised throughout the world.

Architect, Russ Bevington for Micheal Willford & Partners, could not find the unique blend of colours that existed in his mind and turned to ICI for help. Custom palettes were developed and Robinsons were contracted to ensure interior decoration proceeded smoothly against a tight schedule of just five weeks. Our decorating team, overcame many challenges including working on sloping floors and around the clock. ICI and Robinsons continue to maintain the decorative appearance of the building using innovative products such as Diamond Glaze™ for the Lowry Gallery timber floors and Q. D. Eggshell™ to ceilings and walls.
